    Modern by Tradition – an introduction to the Order of Malta.
    Founded in Jerusalem in the 11th century, the Order of Malta is a sovereign subject of international law and a lay religious order of the Catholic Church. Its 13,500 members, 80,000 volunteers and over 25,000 medical personnel are dedicated to caring for people in need. Projects are run across 120 countries, many of which help victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by providing medical assistance, caring for refugees, and distributing medicines and basic equipment for survival.

    Order of Malta International Summer Camp for Young Disabled 2014 – Holland

    International Summer Camp for Young Disabled: for thirty-one consecutive years the Order of Malta’s members and volunteers have been getting together for an intense week in which they take care of their disabled contemporaries, removing all physical and mental barriers. This year’s camp, taking place in the heart of Holland, is attended by people from 23 countries. The hundreds of special events include a visit to Amsterdam through its canals and to the open-air museum in Arnhem, not to mention games, dancing, competitions and excursions.

    March 15th 2015 marks the fourth year since the beginning of the uprising in Syria, and a political solution to the crisis continues to be nowhere in sight. The Order of Malta provides medical aid to refugees and displaced persons in Syria, Lebanon and Turkey through the field hospitals and health centres of its Lebanese Association and Malteser International.
